The surah that this name (and the previous one) is taken from also talks about lending to God, which implies generosity to the poor. "Who is it that would loan Allah a goodly loan so He may multiply it for him many times over? And it is Allah who withholds and grants abundance, and to Him you will be returned." (Surah 2:245 Sahih International)
This is very reminiscent of the verse in the Bible that tells us, "Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done." (Proverbs 19:17 NIV)
